1 in 4 people experience mental health problems every year. Shockingly, men account for three-quarters of UK deaths by suicide.

You never really know what is behind a smile. You can never predict the future. But, what I have realised, is that you can be a positive mechanism of change for others suffering with mental health. Thankfully, I am lucky to still my dad here here today but I know that sometimes it can be too late and my heart really goes out to those who have lost a loved one to mental health.

I've recorded a podcast with my friend Sina Haghighat (First Serve Podcast) about serving others through contagious positivity.

Some of the key messages to take away from this Podcast:

  1. Be consistent with checking in on people and ask if they are really OK?

  2. Patience is key, but you can't force change on someone

  3. Help create small strategies of change to build confidence and self worth

  4. Identify healthy coping mechanisms early

  5. Point them in the right direction of services and medical professionals that can help

  6. Take time back for yourself - ensure you are in the right headspace to help others otherwise it could really impact your own health
