Hi, I’m Jessica. Welcome to my page!

I grew up in Wales where modesty was deeply ingrained in the culture, female role models were virtually non-existent, and platforms like LinkedIn or online learning didn’t exist. Even as one of only three girls in a class of thirty and top of my class in IT at A Levels, I vividly remember a careers advisor telling me, “Girls don’t really do IT.” Because of that, I didn’t believe in myself or feel good enough to study computer science at the time. Instead, I went on to study social sciences.

University was tough. I nearly lost my way and almost dropped out, feeling completely stuck. But while working a part-time job at Starbucks, a chance encounter with some of the Apple team led me to land a job there, and that moment completely changed my life. Apple's 'credo' was all about 'Enriching lives through technology' and it sparked my passion back into the tech world.

Quite a few years on.. I’ve fully pivoted Industries and I've worked for some incredible Tech companies like Capgemini, Dyson, Amazon, and now the BBC, building a career I’m proud of across technical, non-technical, and leadership roles.

I created this blog to share my journey, the lessons I’ve learned, and the honest ups and downs, hoping to be the kind of role model I never had. I want to show that no matter where you come from, you can carve your own path, thrive, and help others rise too.

All the thoughts and views here are entirely my own.
